Fête de la Mer

Party on the Sea…

 

True animator of the harbor and the Bay of Monaco all year long, the Yacht Club de Monaco has greeted all the aficionados of the Mediterranean Sea to celebrate her during the Fête de la Mer.

 

Treasure hunt and Course around the Port Hercule, introduction to rowing by the Société Nautique de Monaco, animation with the dinghy sailing simulator, Kayak-Optimist relay, scuba diving initiation, parasailing and rubber ring riding in collaboration with the Société des Bains de Mer…, without forgetting the traditional regatta of the Yacht Club de Monaco fleet…, so many nautical activities to enjoy all Saturday long, in collaboration with the Société Nautique de Monaco and the Monaco harbour’s shopkeepers.

 

Sunday was the security day. The Yacht Club wished to bring awareness to its members and sailors alike, about the security issues at sea, whilst federating all the Monaco - and local area - based qualified operational staff trained to rescue all year long.

 

In presence of Mr Paul Masseron, Advisor of Internal Government and in collaboration with CROSS Med, Monaco Firemen, Maritime Police and Maritime Affaires of Monaco, SNSM, the afternoon was filled with demonstrations and workshops, including a spectacular winching to safety by the French Navy helicopter assisted by the life-rafts from Menton based SNSM. Practical exercises along the floating pontoon took place such as fires being put out aboard a yacht with the assistance of the Firemen of Monaco and towing a boat in distress by SNSM…

 

Many practical exercises to sail out fully prepared for the busy summer season…
