"For a long time I had wanted our Club to have a prestigious vessel that would be a demonstration of the faith and esteem in which we hold our maritime heritage and traditional yachting. So, when I discovered Tuiga, in the Cannes harbour and the opportunity arose to purchase her in 1995, I was very happy to seize it. One cannot find a boat more beautifiul or motivating to give to both the younger and older sailors, the taste for classic yachting. Tuiga is a very enjoyable boat to helm but sailing it is a sport in itself. I must add my thanks to all the members of the “Tuiga Committee”, without whose help the project could not have been realised.”

Built in 1909 in Fairlie (Scotland), a town based in the Clyde estuary, Yachting birthplace, in the William Fife boatyard, leader of the European naval architecture industry, Tuiga, a 28 metre long (length overall) gaff cutter.
She had been comissioned by the Duke de Medinacelli, a close friend of the King of Spain, Alphonse XIII, Tuiga has known ten owners in 100 years.
In 1995, seduced by the slender lines of this yacht – regarded by Eric Tabarly as “one of the world’s most beautiful yachts”, - H.S.H. Prince Albert II expressed his desire to own her, benefiting from the support of the “Tuiga Committee”.
The 15 Meter IR, has been participating in the big classic yacht regattas ever since, and is lead by a crew by YCM members who fiercely defend the values of La Belle Classe (preservation of our maritime heritage, and respect for the etiquette and the environment) sot dear to the YCM.
She is now the most beautiful maritime ambassador of the Rock and aa witness to the involvement of the Principality for classic yachting.
